Founded in 1970 The TR Register has grown to be one of the foremost one-make clubs in the world. It is a club for owners of all Triumph TR sports cars models from the TR2 to the TR7 and TR8. All were low-slung two-seat roadsters except for the TR7/8 which were built as both coupes and convertibles.
Brief History of Triumph TR Sports Cars
The club owns and has fully restored TS2 the second TR ever built and the precursor to the production TR2.
Although there were other variants the key dates in the model history are:
- 1953-1955 TR2 2litre 4 cylinder 90 hp engine
- 1955-1957 TR3 2litre 4 cylinder 95 hp engine, front disc brakes from 1956
- 1957-1961 TR3A 2litre later 2.14 litre 4 cylinder 95/ 100 hp engine
- 1961-1965 TR4 2.14 litre 4 cylinder 100 hp engine, completely new body shape
- 1965-1967 TR4A 2.14 litre 4 cylinder 104 hp engine, independent rear suspension
- 1967-1968 TR5 2.5 litre 6 cylinder 150hp engine, detuned TR250 variant for the USA
- 1968-1976 TR6 2.5 litre 6 cylinder 150hp engine, new body style
- 1977-1981 TR7 2litre 4 cylinder 105hp, unitary construction, new body style including coupe
- 1979-1981 TR8 3.5litre V8 133 hp engine, mostly exported
The TR marque ceased in 1981 but has been actively supported since by the TR Register.
